Typhoid Fever. There were 25 cases of Typhoid Fever
notified during the year, 3 being in East Greenwich, 14 in West
Greenwich, 3 in St. Nicholas, 4 in Charlton, and 1 in Kidbrooke.
The Mjes of the patients were: 3 between one and five; 7
between five and fifteen years; 9 between fifteen and twenty-five
years and 6 between twenty-five and forty-five years. Of the iota]
number of cases, 23 were removed to the Hospital for treatment.
Seventeen such cases occurred in 1914, 8 in 1913 and 11 in 1912;
the average number for the years 1901 to 1914, inclusive, being 32.
There were seven fatalities from this disease during the year,
4 in West Greenwich, 1 in St. Nicholas and 2 in Kidbrooke.
Thirty-three specimens were forwarded for bacteriological
examination from cases suspected to be Typhoid Fever in character,
and of this number, 3 gave a negative result, and 30 were
positive.
Puerperal. Fever. Four cases of this disease were notified
during the year, 2 in East Greenwich and 2 in St. Nicholas.
There were 4 cases in 1914 and 5 in 1913; 2 of these patients
were removed to Hospital. There were 2 deaths from this disease
during the year. Particular enquiries were made respecting the
source of infection in each case, but in no way did there appear to
be any common origin.
Measles. Nine hundred and seventy-one cases of Measles
were notified by school teachers and others during the year, as compared
with 982 during the previous year, and 344, 586 and 969 in
the years 1912, 1911 and 1910 respectively.
The ages and incidence of fatality of the disease were as follows:—There
were 183 cases under five vears of age, amongst whom
there were 42 deaths, giving a case mortality of 23.0 per cent.
Between the ages of five to fifteen years there were 828, with 4
deaths at this age period, giving a case mortality of 0.48 per cent.
The case mortality for the whole district works out at 4 7 per
cent.
