OTHER NOTIFIABLE DISEASES.
Acute Poliomyelitis, Cerebrospinal Meningitis, Encephalitis Lethargica,
Ophthalmia Neonatorum, Tuberculosis and Measles.
Acute Poliomyelitis

Three cases were ascribed to this disease during the year, as contrasted with 5 in 1918. One death, however, was registered.

Epidemic Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis
Sixteen cases were notified, or two cases more than in 1918. In only
one of these had the patient been in direct contact with a soldier who
had been sent home on leave from a military camp. During the ten years
1909-18 the cases averaged 18 per annum.

The deaths during the year numbered 10, and were equal to the very
high rate of 62 per cent, of the cases notified.
Public Health (Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, etc.),
Regulations, 1919.
These Regulations came into force on the 7th January, 1919, and
during the year the following cases were notified by medical practitioners to
the Medical Officer of Health.
