The increased number of deaths in 1922 is due to a much heavier
mortality amongst children, 1 to 5 years of age, from Scarlet Fever,
Diphtheria, Measles and Whooping Cough.
Infectious and Other Diseases.
Measles.
There were 11 deaths from Measles in Chelsea in 1922, namely:
5 under 1 year of age, 4 between 1 and 3 years of age, one of 5 and one
of 6 years. In 1921 there were no deaths from Measles. The last considerable
epidemic in Chelsea was in 1915 (39 deaths).
The Health Visitors in the course of the year made 439 visits to
homes in connection with Measles cases, as against 12 in 1921. The
