The Lewis Trust Buildings are still in course of erection. Owing to
the Building Strike or Lock-out in 1914, nothing was done on the Buildings
from February to August inclusive. The Buildings should be completed
in the autumn of 1915.
During the year 1914, closing orders were made by the Borough Council
in respect of 4 houses in Riley-street, under the provisions of the Housing
and Town Planning Act, 1911. Owing to the War, it was considered
undesirable to close the houses and disperse the tenants, and minor repairs
were carried out by the owner of the houses during the autumn.
