which are orally explained at some length. The faeces and
urine are examined bacteriologically only in those patients discharged
for home where there is some evidence or suspicion
which points to their acting- as typhoid carriers.
Diagnosis—Specimens of blood from suspected cases
of typhoid fever are examined free of charge for medical men
by the Public Health Department. The examinations are conducted
at the Royal Institute of Public Health, 37, Russell
Square, London, W.C. Telephone address "Museum 766." In
1923 three specimens of blood were received for diagnosis; all
gave negative results.
Trench Fever, Dysentery, Malaria.—No cases were
notified during 1923.
