It will be seen from the above table that in 1914 the
infant mortality in Walham Ward was, as has generally
been the case, much above that of the rest of the borough,
and was double that of Town Ward, but the enormous
loss of infant life in the poorer districts is best illustrated
by the rates obtaining in certain selected areas,
viz.:—
