given was considered satisfactory. All samples of milk taken
for analysis under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts are
examined for preservatives. During the year no sample was
found to contain preservative.

Year ended 31st December, 1923.
During the twelve months ended on that date 626 samples
were submitted to me for examination. Of these, 600 were
purchased under the provisions of the Sale of Food and
Drugs Acts and 12 under the Public Health (Milk and Cream)
Regulations.
In Table I are given the numbers of samples received
under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts during the several
quarters of the year, together with the numbers classified as
genuine, inferior, and adulterated.
Of the total number examined 509 were reported as
genuine. 37 as adulterated, whilst 54 were of inferior quality.

The percentage of adulteration was 6.1 as compared with
