Public Health Department,
Town Hall, Haverstock Hill,
Hampstead, N.W. 3.
3rd June, 1919.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors
of the Metropolitan Borough of Hampstead.
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit to you the Annual Report for the
year 1918.
The year 1918 has been an active one, and the duties have
been carried out under difficulties due to the War, and its attendant
abnormal conditions.
The work of the Department, however, has been fully maintained,
and Hampstead again records the lowest death rate of any
London Borough.
In presenting this review of the work of the Public Health
Department for 1918, I wish to thank the Council and the Chairman
and Members of the Public Health Committee for the kindly support
and encouragement they have ever given me. I desire also to express
my appreciation of earnest efforts of the members of the Staff of the
Department whilst according me their assistance and able co-operation.
I have the honour to be,
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
FRANK E. SCRASE,
Medical Officer of Health.
