ISOLATION SHELTER.
During the year there were 32 persons admitted to the Shelter
whilst their homes were being disinfected. This total consisted of
10 men, 13 women and 9 children. The cost of maintenance
of these persons admitted was £7 1s. 6d ,
CLEANSING OF PERSONS ACT, 1897.
The baths provided by the Borough Council under the above
Act for the cleansing of verminous persons, were in constant use
during last year. 190 adults and 2,410 children received baths
and the number of baths given during that period was 7,780. This
total shows an increase of 4,356 upon the number given during
1919.
Of the 7,780 baths given, 6,521 were sulphur baths for scabies,
and 1,259 for pediculi. The great majority of those persons
presenting themselves for baths were children from the elementary
schools in the Borough. These children received 7,128 baths, an
increase of 3,935 upon the number given during 1919.
