DISCHARGED TUBERCULOUS SOLDIERS AND SAILORS.
Arrangements were made at the commencement of 1919
with the Ministry of Pensions for the home visiting and after care
of discharged soldiers and sailors suffering from tuberculosis.
The Tuberculosis Health Visitors visit the homes of these
patients and advise them of any alterations which they deem
desirable in the sleeping accommodation, sanitary conditions,
cleanliness, etc., and also encourage them to carry out the instructions
of the doctor in attendance, or the Tuberculosis Officer, as
to their mode of living.
During the year the number of discharged men visited was
475, and the total number of visits of this kind made was 1,314.
The proportion of the number of visits of such cases to the total
number of visits made by Tuberculosis Health Visitors to tuberculous
cases in the Borough was as one is to three.
TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS.
The scheme for providing dispensary treatment for tuberculous
persons in London is set out in the Circular letter of the Local
Government Board, dated 19th December, 1913.
