REPORT
of the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH
FOR THE YEAR 1920.
Public Health Department,
20, Compton Terrace,
Upper Street,
Islington, N.l.
December, 1921.
To The Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the
Metropolitan Borough of Islington.
In presenting on behalf of Dr. A. E. Harris the Annual Repoit for 1920,
a year for which are recorded the lowest death rate (13.32 per 1,000 of the
population) and the Borough's lowest Infantile Mortality Rate (72 per 1,000
births) it is but fitting, in the last report bearing his name, to put on record
his long and energetic service to Islington.
Dr. Harris was Medical Officer of Health for the County Borough of
Sunderland from 1881 to 1892, when he was appointed to Islington. The
records of both places bear witness to his admirable work aud assiduity in the
Public Health Service. While in his well earned retirement his personality
and kindness will be remembered by all classes of the community.
I am,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
M.D., D.P.H., F.R.S.E.,
Medical Officer of Health.
