Notices Served.—There were 3,403 intimation notices served by the
inspectors with respect to nuisances, of which 1,713 were delivered personally,
and 1,690 by post. In 392 instances it became necessary, as the intimations
to owners or occupiers of the properties had been ignored, to report the
nuisances to the Public Health Committee, who ordered statutory notices to
be served.
Verminous Premises—Bedding and Clothing.—154 premises which
were found to be in a verminous condition, were cleansed by the owners
or occupiers upon receiving the Inspectors' intimations. In 46 instances it
was necessary to remove the bedding and clothing to the Disinfecting Station
for purification or destruction.
Smoke Nuisances.—63 complaints of smoke issuing from factory
chimneys in the borough were investigated, and as a result of the Inspector's
observation notices were served upon the owners of the following businesses
requiring the abatement of the nuisance:—
Camden Steam Laundry, 260, Yorks Road.
Mayfield Laundry, 69, Gillespie Road.
REMOVAL OF DUST.
Thirty-six applications were received during the year for the removal
of duit. which is 17 above the number recorded last vear.

Dust Receptacles Provided.—During the year 2,585 dust receptacles
were provided, while 62 were repaired after the service of sanitary notices.
