TUBERCULOSIS DISPENSARIES.
The work of the Tuberculosis Dispensaries has been very satisfactorily
performed, and during the year 1,415 persons were examined by the Tuberculosis
Officers, and the patients made 10,816 attendances.
At the Northern Dispensary there were 655 new cases, and at the
Southern 760, while the attendances at the former were 3,921 and at the
latter 6,895. The examination of contacts with tuberculous cases showed
that 43 were suffering from tuberculosis, 44 were suspect, and 386 were not
suffering. The nurses of the Northern Dispensary paid 1,677 visits, and those
of the Southern 1,788, to the homes of the patients, while the Tuberculosis
Oifficer of the Northern Dispensary made 226 visits and of the Southern 214
vsits to the patients' homes for the purpose of examining them.
The number of persons in attendance at them in each year since their
institution is as follows:—
