Milkshops and Dairies. -At the close of the year there were 582 milkshops
and dairies on the register, 23 having been added, and 19 removed
from it.
They received 1,117 visits from the District Sanitary Inspectors, who
served notices for the execution of various sanitary improvements and the
cleansing of dirty utensils.
THE ADULTERATION OF FOODS AND DRUGS.
During the year 1,139 samples of various foods and drugs were obtained
by Inspector Burrell and submitted by him to the Public Analyst (Mr. Frank
L. Teed, D.Sc.) for examination. Of these 1,025 were genuine, while 114,
or 10 per cent., were adulterated. This is 0.5 per cent. lower than the
percentage of adulteration in the preceding year, but 0'4 per cent. above the
average rate during the last 25 years.
