In a Return prepared in April of this year by the Medical
Officer of Health for Bethnal Green it is shown that 11
Boroughs have Municipal Maternity Schemes in entire or
partial operation, in 8 there were voluntary societies at work,
whilst in 9 there appeared to be neither voluntary nor municipal
centres.
In conclusion I would suggest to the Committee that as
advised by the Local Government Board they consider the
advisability of appointing additional health visitors, and that
instructions be given to me to prepare a scheme on the
suggestions laid down by the Board.
