Internotification.—Duplicate notices relating to non-resident patients attending local
schools, are received from the Medical Officers of Health of the circumjacent districts, similar
information relating to their schools being forwarded to them. The numbers of cases of
scarlet fever and diphtheria so reported are given in Table 35 ("N.R." cols.). A complete
list of the 123 notices received from Kensington, Hampstead, Willesden, and Marylebone is
given below:—

Bacteriological Examinations.—The specimens received during the year numbered 177
(see below), as compared with 137 in 1908, 135 in 1907, 127 in 1906, and 61 in 1905. Positive
results were obtained in 51 instances (22.0 per cent.), the percentages in 1908, 1907 and 1906
having been 41.6, 42.2 and 32.2 respectively. The increase in specimens of sputum is
satisfactory from an administrative point of view.
