for dealing with this matter.
Contacts. No intimations were received from the Medical
Officer of Health of the various Port Sanitary Authorities respecting
persons who had been in contact with Small-pox, Plague or
Yellow Fever.
Glanders. Under the Glanders Order, notification has been
made to this authority during the year with respect to three outbreaks
of Glanders. Enquiries have been made, and no human
Glanders has appeared to result therefrom.
Glanders, Anthrax and Hydrophobia. No notification of
any case of these diseases in man has been received during the year.
Tuberculosis. During the year there were 384 cases of
Tuberculosis notified in the Borough, 281 being pulmonary cases,
or ordinarily known as Consumption, and 103 non-pulmonary,,
being Tuberculosis affecting other portions of the body than the
lungs. Of this number of cases, 119 Pulmonary and 41 Nonpulmonary
occurred in East Greenwich, 70 Pulmonary and 28
Non-pulmonary in West Greenwich, 65 Pulmonary and 21 Nonpulmonary
in St. Nicholas, 25 Pulmonary and 13 Non-pulmonary
in Charlton, and 2 Pulmonary cases in Kidbrooke. The various
ages of the patients were as follows:—Pulmonary cases, under one
year of age, one case; from 1 to 5, four cases; 5 to 15, thirty-eight
cases; 15 to 25, sixty-seven cases; 25 to 45, ninety-nine cases;
45 to 65, sixty-three cases; and 65 and upwards, nine cases; whilst
the Non-pulmonary were—under 1 year of age, four cases; 1 to 5,
twenty cases; 5 to 15, forty-nine cases; 15 to 25, eighteen cases;
25 to 45, seven cases; and 45 to 65, five cases.
Of this number, 155 were removed to Institutions for treatment;
105 being Pulmonary cases, and 50 being Non-pulmonary
cases.
