I have great hopes that when the proposed Municipal Bacteriological
Laboratory in the Borough gets into working order we may
be able to offer to medical men for patients living in the Borough
facilities for having blood examinations made to assist in the
diagnosis of cases of this serious disease. As a corollary
I feel sure that the Council, when the necessity is placed
before them, will see their way to granting facilities for special

There were no deaths from Gonorrhoea during the year.
Septic. Erysipelas. One death occurred from this cause

Puerperal Fever. There were 2 deaths from this disease

compare with 172, 158 and 136, the totals of the previous three
years, and respective rates of 1.80, 1.65 and 1.21.
Tuberculosis of the Lungs (Consumption) is, as usual, credited
with the major portion of these deaths, there being 112 attributed

1,000, the Phthisis Death Rate for the whole of London. Amongst
the Metropolitan Boroughs this Death Rate ranged from 0 57 in
