adulterations thus being equivalent to 3 per cent, of the samples
taken.
Of the total number of samples purchased, 126 were butter,
of which all were genuine; 171 were milk, of which 11 were certified
to be adulterated; the remaining adulterated samples were
1 of coffee and 3 of vinegar.
Of the. 126 samples of butter taken during the year, 90
contained boric acid preservative, the amount in each case not
exceeding 0 5 per cent.
Milk and Cream Regulations. No spccial samples have
been taken under the express provisions of these Regulations, but
all samples of milk taken during the year under the provision of
the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts have been examined for preservatives,
which have not been found up to the present on any
occasion. As required by the Local Government Board, the following
