blacksmiths, 13 barge builders, 4 builders' yards, etc. Information
has been sent to H.M. Inspector of Factories with respect to 1 new
workshop, and also 6 instances where protected persons were
employed on premises no abstract being displayed. One complaint
has been received from H.M. Inspector, and also 11 intimations
respecting alleged new workshops.
Outworkers' Register. Seventy lists of Outworkers, containing
268 names and addresses, have been received during the
year from the Medical Officers of Health for other Districts; 29
lists, containing 310 names, have been received from employers
within the District; 44 lists, containing 151 names, have been
forwarded to other Districts, thus giving a total of 427 names
and addresses of outworkers within the Borough. Two hundred
and seventy-eight visits of inspection have been made to these
premises.
