The following table shows the variation in, and average of, the Death Rates in each of the five Districts of the Borough in the five years, 1906 to 1910, compared with the figures for 1911:—

Included in the above total number of deaths in the Borough
of Greenwich, and all of them specially allocated to the
district of East Greenwich, are a total of 40 deaths of sailors
and others occurring in the "Dreadnought" Hospital. Such
persons had no known fixed residence in England, and
unfortunately, died in the "Dreadnought" Hospital. In
previous years the total of such persons dying in the whole
of London has been divided by the Registrar-General
amongst the different Metropolitan Boroughs,, but now
under a new system the Registrar-General has decided that
all such cases shall be reckoned to belong to the district in
which the death actually occurs, from which it will be seen
that considerable hardship in this respect is likely to accrue
to districts which contain large Hospitals or Institutions
similar in character to the "Dreadnought" Hospital.
