Puerperal Fever. Eight cases of this disease were notified
during the year, 4 in East Greenwich, 3 in West Greenwich, and
1 in St. Nicholas; there were 2 in 1908 and 2 in 1907. One of
the cases being treated in hospital.
There were 4 deaths from this disease during the year, 3 in.
East Greenwich and 1 in West Greenwich.
Chicken Pox. There are no full statistics obtainable as to
the incidence of this disease, it not being now notifiable.
Measles. Seven hundred and ninety-five cases of Measles
were notified to this department by parents, guardians, school
teachers, and others during the year. In each case visits were
paid to the infected premises, and the usual measures of
disinfection generally carried out. In the previous years, 1908,.
1907 and 1906, they were respectively 497, 1,245, and 482.
The fatalities from this disease for the present year were 38
in the preceding years, 16, 55, and 29 deaths respectively
occurred.
