4 each from Aneurism and Angina Pectoris, 3 from Embolism,
and from the remaining diseases of this system, 3.
Respiratory System. Two hundred and thirty-seven
deaths were due to diseases of the respiratory organs, as compared
with 201 in the preceding year. The death rate under this
heading equals 2.14 per 1,000. 41 were from Acute and 72 from
Chronic Bronchitis ; 111 from the various forms of Pneumonia,
55 being under 5 years of age; 5 were from Asthma, 6 from
Pleurisy, 1 from the other diseases of the Respiratory System,
and 1 from the diseases of the Larynx.
Digestive System. There were 73 deaths from diseases
of this system, equal to a rate of 0.66 per 1,000. Enteritis was
responsible for 25, 21 being under 5 years of age ; 4 were due to
Ulcer of stomach and duodenum, 7 to Appendicitis, 12 to
obstruction or other diseases of the intestine, 9 to Cirrhosis and
6 to other diseases of the liver, 7 to Peritonitis, and 3 to the other
diseases of the digestive system.
Lymphatic System. There were four deaths from diseases
affecting this system, equal to a rate of 0.04 per 1,000.
Urinary System. Thirty-six deaths, equal to a rate of 0.33
per 1,000, occurred from diseases affecting this system. 24 were
from Bright's Disease, 5 from Acute Nephritis, and 7 from diseases
of the Bladder and Prostate.
Reproductive System. Diseases of the generative organs
were the cause of three deaths. There were five deaths attributed
to diseases of Parturition.
Bones and Joints. There were five deaths from diseases
of bones and joints.
