Report on the sanitary condition of the Hackney District for the year 1911

On April 8th two sisters of the last case, viz., Alice, age10
years and Ivy age 12 years, fell ill. They were attended and
treated at home by a medical practitioner until May 20th when they
were notified to be suffering from enteric fever, and removed tohospital.
Again, on May 24th, George, another brother of the former
cases, age 8 years, fell ill, the medical attendant being called in on
the 27th. George was notified as suffering from enteric fever on
the 29th of that month and removed to hospital. This was the
last case of the group.

To the above must be added Mrs. M., who suffered, as stated
above, for several days from diarrhoea and was medically treated
for the same. Although her illness was not diagnosed as enteric
fever, I am of opinion, in the light of the large number of cases
occurring amongst her children, that she too suffered from this
