*Marriages and Marriage Rates.—During 1911 there were 1,919
marriages celebrated in the Borough of Hackney. The annual
marriage rate for persons married during this period is therefore
17.2 per 1,000 of the population.
The following table gives the number of marriages, and the marriage rates for the Borough of Hacknev and London for the ten vears 1901-1911

Births.—The number of births registered in the Borough of
Hackney during the year 1911 was 5,410 of which 2.800 were
males and 2,610 females. The total shows a decline of 83 compared
with the number of births registered in the Borough during
1910. It must be remembered that this total is the actual number
of births registered in Hackney, but of these a certain number
should be transferred to other districts, and there also certain births
