visit (140), or owing to a wrong address being given (91), or the
premises being workshops (19), or male workers only being
employed (46).
During her visits Miss Portlock discovered 720 sanitary defects.
For the abatement of these she served 414 intimation notices
and 38 final notices. Of the 1,171 premises inspected, in 62 only
was a room set apart entirely for work. In the remainder work
was carried on in rooms used for other purposes, as set out below:-
