On the other hand:—
The Tuberculosis Officer of the Victoria Park Hospital
would be quite independent, and in no way under the
control of the Public Health Committee of this Council.
It would be invidious to assert that the skill of the
Physicians at one of these hospitals is in any way superior
to that of the other, but the Victoria Park Hospital is a
medical institution, and at present does not undertake the
treatment of non-pulmonary Tuberculosis, as it has no surgical
staff.
After careful consideration by the Sub-Committee,
the matter was referred to the Town Clerk, the Borough
Accountant, and the Medical Officer of Health to consider
and report as to the gross cost to the Borought of:—
(1) A Tuberculosis Dispensary established at the
Victoria Park Hospital.
(2) A Tuberculosis Dispensary established and
controlled by the Council, with provision for treatment
of special cases at the London Hospital.
The following statement was accordingly prepared
by the Borough Accountant; it sets forth (in accordance
with details and requirements indicated by me) the financial
particulars called for by the Public Health
"Committee.
