Leprosy.
There were no known cases of Leprosy in the Borough during
the year.
There are known to be from 25 to 50 lepers living in England, and
of these only one has acquired the disease in the United Kingdom.
The simple precautions these unfortunates are able to take to keep
themselves separated has been sufficient to prevent contagion.

Phthisis was the cause of 148 deaths during 1913, compared with
the same total for 1912.
The death-rate was 1.33 per 1,000 persons, compared with 1.35,
1.31 and 1.26 for the three preceding years.
