Leprosy.
There were no known cases of Leprosy, but the Public
Health Committee reported the following to the Council on
the 26th March :—That they had had under consideration a letter
from the Town Clerk of Greenwich stating that his Council
are making application to the London County Council for an
order to be made bringing the disease of Leprosy under sections
55 to 70 of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, dealing with
infectious diseases, and asking this Council to support the
action.
Your Committee are of opinion that as a matter of precaution
this disease should be included among the list of
infectious diseases required to be notified, and recommend:—
That a communication be addressed to the London County
Council in support of the suggestion that an order should be
made by that body requiring the notification of cases of
Leprosy throughout the whole of the County of London.
NOTIFICATION OF LEPROSY.
On May 21st it was reported:—That with regard to the
resolution of the Council passed at the meeting of the 26th
March last, in support of the suggestion that the London
County Council should make an order requiring the notification
of cases of leprosy throughout London, they had received a
communication from the Clerk of the London County Council,
stating that his Council has not at present before it sufficient
evidence to warrant the inclusion of leprosy in the list of
notifiable diseases, but having regard to the importance of the
suggestion, the matter has been brought to the notice of the
Local Government Board by that Council.
