Anthrax, Glanders and Hydrophobia in Man.
No cases where notified of the above diseases during the
year.
Continued and Typhus Fever.
Four cases of continued fever were notified during the year.
We have had no case of typhus fever since 1903, when
we had one case, and in 1901 we had three cases.
Diarrhoea and Enteritis.

Under this heading are included deaths registered as due
to epidemic diarrhoea, epidemic enteritis, infective enteritis,
zymotic enteritis, summer diarrhoea, dysentery and dysenteric
diarrhoea, choleraic diarrhoea, cholera (other than Asiatic or
epidemic) and cholera nostras.
Under the heading of "Enteritis" are included deaths
registered as due to enteritis, muco-enteritis, gastro-enteritis,
gastric catarrh, and gastro-intestinal catarrh. Gastritis is a
separate disease.
These diseases were the cause of 188 deaths during 1911.
Of this number 178 were of children under five years of age,
143 of these being under one year of age.
The death rate was 1.72 per 1,000 at all ages, and 1.57 for
infants under two years of age.
