Rag Flock Act.
Eight samples were procured under the above Act,
and examined by the Public Analyst. Of these, five
were certified to comply with the standard of cleanliness
prescribed by the regulations of the Local Government
Board, viz., " that the amount of soluble chlorine in the
form of chlorides removed by washing with distilled
water at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees
centigrade from not less than 40 grammes of a well
mixed sample of flock shall not exceed 30 parts of
chlorine in 100,000 parts of flock."
The other samples contained respectively 72, 216 and
285 parts of chlorine per 100,000 of flock.
Proceedings were instituted against the vendor of the
sample containing 216 parts of chlorine per 100,000
which had been taken by the Inspector from a coverlet,
but the summons was dismissed, the magistrate holding
that the Act did not apply to flock taken from a
manufactured article, but only to loose flock.
