Insurance of Children.
Certificates under the Friendly Societies Act were
issued in respect of 364 children under five years of
age, 61.5 per cent. of the children dying at this age
period being insured.
Deaths at other Age Periods.
The proportion which the deaths at age periods over
one year bear to the total number of deaths is as
under:—

DEATHS FROM EPIDEMIC DISEASES.
To the seven principal epidemic diseases 173 deaths
were ascribed, representing a death-rate of 1.1 per 1,000
or less than half of the mean rate of the decennium
1902-1911.
The following table gives the number of deaths in
the borough from the principal epidemic diseases in
1912 and in the preceding ten years, together with the
death-rates:—
