INQUESTS.
During the past year 198 inquests were held in the Borough.
This number includes the inquests on six non-residents who died
in Finsbury.
The causes of death were as follows : —
Adults and Children over 5 years— 2. Other causes (89).
135 deaths. Heart Disease 20
1. Accidental causes (46) comprising:— Suicide 16
Accidental falls 28 Bright's Disease 13
Accidental burns and scalds 6 Alcoholism 8
Run over by motor cars 3 Pneumonia 7
Accidental poisoning 2 Phthisis 6
Accidental suffocation 2 Bed sores 3
Run over by van or engine 2 Cirrhosis of liver 3
Accidental crush between rail- Disease of blood vessels 3
way trucks 1 Peritonitis 3
Accidental injuries causing
blood poisoning 1
Accidental shooting 1
And the following one each : Gangrene of Buttock, Strangulation
of Intestines, Tuberculous Meningitis, Diarrhœa, Heat Stroke,
Murder; and Gastric Ulcer.
