The factories on the register include 7 tenement factories, in
which there are 32 occupiers, carrying on different trades or processes,
and supplied with mechanical power by the owners of such
factories. Each of these occupiers and his tenement is individually
and separately subject to the provisions of the Factory Acts, but
the whole premises are treated as one building.
During the year 3,442 inspections and re-visits were made by
the Council's Inspector. A summary of the defects found is
