SCARLET FEVER.
The number of notifications, 171, and the number of deaths, 6,
are, with the exception of 1910, less than they have been in any
previous year since the Borough was formed.
With the exception of 11 cases, all the rest, 160 in number,
were in children between one and 15 years.
The deaths were 3-5 per cent, of the total number of cases, or
one in every 29 children affected, died.
Four cases were treated at home—suitable measures were taken
to ensure the isolation of the patient.
The rest, 167, were treated in hospital.
The particulars with regard to previous years are appended.
