CONCLUSION.
Diagram No. 7 gives the Capital liability of each
London Undertaking at March, 1906. and the return upon this
Capital by the gross revenue earned, from which it will be seen
that, in spite of the low price obtained for both public and
private supply and the relatively small output of the former,
the return upon the Hammersmith Capital liability was only
exceeded by two Undertakings at that date.
Diagram No. 8 shows the quarterly and yearly revenues
from commercial supply since the commencement.
With reference to my query in the first paragraph of
this Report; is this result likely to be repeated or improved
upon during the coming year? The following schedule shows
the progress made during the present year compared with last
year:—
Units supplied Advance,
to Mains.
31st March to end of May, 1905 1,573,644
Do. do. 1906 1,841,563 267,919
Do. do. 1907 2,312,055 480,492
If this improvement is maintained the final result will be an
increase of more than double our largest increase in any year,
and there is no reason why the extra expense should be anything
like the same proportion.
I consider the future outlook is extremely promising.
There is only one cloud on the horizon, and that is the question
of fuel, but I think there is no need to be unduly pessimestic on
this account.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
G. G. BELL,
Borough Electrical Engineer.
