Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.
The Factory and Workshop Act came into force at the beginning
of 1902, and in consequence a number of additional duties
devolved on the local authority. Section 32 of the Act directs
that the Medical Officer of Health shall every year report specifically
on the administration of the Act in workshops and workplaces in
the district under his supervision, and transmit a copy to the
Secretary of State for the Home Department. In this part of the
annual report will be found everything which has concerned the
Health Department in relation to factories, workshops and workplaces.
The only exceptions are milkshops and restaurant kitchens,
which are more appropriately included in the section dealing with
the protection of the food supply.
