population which took place Hackney, during the ten years 1891
to 1901, I estimate the population of the Borough of Hackney at
the end of June, 1909, to be 235,525 persons. This estimate gives
a density of 71.3 persons per acre for the whole Borough, varying
from 51.0 persons per acre in the North Sub-District to 81.3
persons per acre in the South-East Sub-District. The following
table gives the population and density of the Sub-Districts,
compared with the whole of London:—

Marriages and Marriage Rates.—During the year 1909 there
were 2,036 marriages solemnized in the Borough of Hackney.
The annual marriage rate for persons married during this period
is 17.2 per 1,000 of the population, that for all London for the same
period being 15.8 per 1,000 of the population.
