During the year under review information was received from
the headmasters of elementary schools of 1,267 cases of measles
occurring amongst their scholars or at their homes. In each of
these cases a leaflet on the prevention of the spread of measles
was dispatched to the parent.
Whooping Cough.— There was an increased prevalence of this
disease in the Borough during 1907. The deaths numbered during
the year 65, against 31 during 1906. The death rate for last year
from this disease is, therefore, .28 per 1,000 living persons.
