1902, and whose salary in consequence of his duties
being mainly outside the Sanitary Officers (London)
Order, 1891, had been entirely borne by the Council,
was appointed a regular Sanitary Inspector in consequence
of the large diminution of combined
drainage work, the supervision of which was
otherwise provided for, Inspector Jones' duties being
re-arranged accordingly. The result of this arrangement,
which has received the sanction of the Local
Government Board, is that one half of this officer's
salary is borne by the County Council.
The Clerical Staff of the department lost a most
efficient member and an excellent officer, when, in
September Mr. L. Bull, 3rd Assistant Clerk, obtained
another appointment. In order to fill the vacancy,
Messrs. W. Billings and H. A. Saunders, 4th and 5th
Assistant Clerks respectively were promoted, and a
Junior Clerk, H. W. Pendrill, appointed.
