ENTERIC FEVER.
The return from Enteric Fever was exceedingly good and was the lowest
hitherto recorded in Islington. The cases numbered 100, as compared with
an average of 235 in the preceding 10 years. These were equal to an annual
attack rate of 0.29, as against a rate of 0.6g in the preceding decennial period.
In the County of London the attack rate was 0.33 per 1,000, and in the
Encircling Boroughs 0.40, from which figures it is seen that Islington
occupied a very favourable position.
Hospital Isolation.—71 cases, equal to 70 per cent, of the total number
notified, were removed to hospital for treatment and isolation.
Fatality.—Out of the 100 cases, 17, or 17 per cent, proved fatal. Of the
71 cases treated in hospital 11, or 15.5 per cent. died, while of the 29 cases
treated at home 6, or 20.7 per cent. died.
