Workplaces.
This term is not defined in the Factory Act, nor in the Public
Health Act, and it is sometimes exceedingly difficult to decide
whether certain premises are or are not " workplaces." Among the
more important workplaces are the kitchens of restaurants, coffeehouses,
etc., and the number of these places in Hampstead in 1906
was 48. During 1907, two premises were removed from the register
of kitchens, and 13 were added, leaving a total number of 58 on the
register at the end of the year.
These premises are kept under regular supervision by Inspector
Hudson.
