The birth-rate for 1910 is 18.3 per 1,000. The average birthrate
of the Borough for the years 1901-9 is 20.7 per 1,000. The average
birth-rate of the Home District of Chelsea Parish for the 5 years 18961900
was 24.1 per 1,000. The birth-rate of the past year is the lowest
yet recorded.
During the year 1910, 57 births of parishioners were registered as
having occurred in the Chelsea Workhouse, equivalent to 4.1 per cent. of
the total number of births in the Borough, the same percentage as in
1909.
DEATHS AND DEATH-RATE FOR 1910.
The total number of deaths registered in the Borough was 1,427. Of
this number 632 were deaths within the Borough of non-parishioners
—chiefly occurring in Hospitals, and in the St. George's Infirmary; and
157 deaths of parishioners occurred outside the Borough in various public
institutions. There were, therefore, 952 deaths of parishioners of
Chelsea. These 952 deaths are equivalent to a death-rate for the year of
12.7 per 1,000, as against 14.5 in 1909.

Zymotic Death-rate.—The death-rate in Chelsea from the seven
principal zymotic diseases was 0.92 per 1,000 in 1910, the corresponding
rate for London being l.32. In 1909 the zymotic death-rate in Chelsea
was 1.2 per 1,000.
