From this table it would appear that the disease occurs most
commonly in the second to the sixth years of life. It has, however,
to be remembered that these figures are of intimated cases
only (though there is no reason to suppose they are exceptional),
and are not "corrected" as regards population at these ages.
Broadly, however, they represent the incidence of the disease.

The deaths occur mostly in the second year of life, as shown in the following table:—

Disinfection has been carried out in 466 cases, but it is very
doubtful indeed if the gains have been commensurate with the
extent of this work.
