The work in many of the occupations is very irregular, such as
the making of artificial flowers, millinery, fur lining, etc., and only
occurs during short seasons of the year. Much of the work made
in the homes of Finsbury is cheap and commands a low price,
nevertheless, the home workers on the whole compare favourably
with those amongst whom they live who are unwilling or unable to
make the same effort towards supporting themselves and their
families.
The various occupations of the home workers visited were as follows:—
