At the beginning of 1908 the number of workshops on the
Register was 524. During the year the occupation of 69 of these
premises was discontinued, while 55 new workshops were registered,
so that at the end of 1908 the number of workshops on the
Register was 510, in which were employed 2,102 persons: 1,018
males and 1,084 females.

During 1908, 55 new workshops have been added to the Register, and the following table shows the workshops notified to H.M. Inspector during the year in pursuance of Section 133 of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901:—

Full particulars concerning these workshops have been entered
up in the Register. These particulars show that 61 workrooms
were in use in connection with these 44 workshops, and that 83
persons were working therein at the time of inspection: 8 males,
75 females.
