Houses Let in Lodgings
The number of houses registered as houses let in lodgings at
the end of 1908, was 315, the same number as in 1907. The
registered houses are situated chiefly in the following streets: —
Fleet Road.
Dunboyne Street.
Fairfax Mews.
Bolton Road.
Netherwood Street.
Linstead Street.
Lowfield Road.
Kelson Street.
The number of tenement houses in Hampstead that might
with advantage be dealt with under the bye-laws relating to houses
let in lodgings is over 800, but hitherto the sanitary inspectors
have been so much occupied with other work that it has been
found impossible to keep anything like so large a number of houses
under proper supervision. But now that an additional lady inspector
has been appointed it will be possible to make a considerable
increase in the number of houses placed upon the register.
Uninhabitable or Insanitary Dwellings.
The following is a list of dwellings that were found, during
the year, to be so insanitary that extensive structural alterations
were necessary to make them fit for human habitation. Most of
the premises were, as was the case in former years, stable dwellings:—
7, 8, Abbey Lane.
3, Albert Mews.
15, Alexandra Mews.
14a, 51, Belsize Lane.
13a, Belsize Mews.
17, Church Lane.
Weatherhall House Stables, Christ Church Road.
4, 10, Collas Mews.
8, 24, 26, 38, 52, 52a, Fairfax Mews.
1-5, Golden Yard.
Ebenezer Chapel and Cottage, Kilburn Vale.
1-5, 22-30, Midland Cottages, Mill Lane.
