The distribution of infant deaths from Epidemic
Diarrhoea and Enteritis, Respiratory Diseases, Digestive Diseases,
and Premature Birth shows that the mortality was highest in
the Catford Ward, the next highest was in the Sydenham Division,
the majority of which occurred in the Lower Sydenham portion
of the division.
An examination of the records and reports made after
enquiry establish the important facts that a very great majority
of the infantile deaths occurred in the poorer streets, and that
generally the parents were of the labouring classes. The streets
list appended herewith supports this statement.
