WOMAN SANITARY INSPECTOR.
Your Council have during the year made the appointment
of the first woman sanitary inspector. Miss Irene
Whitworth, B. Sc., London, was appointed to fill the position.
She commenced her duties on September 1st, since which time
I have had an opportunity of observing her work, which I am
pleased to say has been most valuable.
The duties assigned to this officer and approved by the
Local Government Board are as follows :—
The routine inspection of workshops, workplaces, and
laundries, where females are employed.
The inspection of homes of female outworkers.
