In Emily Place, per house of four rooms, 5 adults and 3 children (5.33 adults and 2.33
children).
In Queen's Square (4, 5, and 6 rooms) 5 adults and 5 children (5 0 adults and 5.60children).
In Victoria Place, per house of four rooms, 4 adults and 2 children (4.35 adults and 1.75
children).
The rent of a one-room tenement (unfurnished) varies from 2s. 9d. to 4s. 6d. per week. The
rent of a two-room tenement (unfurnished) averages 6s. weekly. The rent of a four-roomed
house averages 9s. 6d. weekly. The rent of a six-roomed house averages 12s. to 14s. weekly.
Seventy-nine Intimation Notices have been served, and one Statutory Notice, for various
sanitary defects, and in many instances complied with. Other work is in progress, and there
are still some notices to serve, as a result of the very recent inspections.
A distinct improvement has been effected in many of the houses.
